The Missionary Home was initiated in 1960 by a group of Port Moresby Christians when it was no longer possible to accommodate, in private homes, the increasing number of missionaries passing through Port Moresby. The Missionary Association of Papua New Guinea (MAPANG) was formed as a non-denominational self-supporting association to provide accommodation to meet this need.
MAPANG is now registered an an Incorporated Association in PNG. The Board includes representatives from 7 founding mission/churches as well as other interested mission/churches.
MAPANG's first Hosts literally shared all they had to get the Mission home started. Since that time there have been many wonderful people who have given their all to serve as hosts and to manage this wonderful home. MAPANG Missionary Home has an excellent reputation for its friendly staff and excellent meals, and is known as a place of fellowship.
We look forward to meeting you on your next visit.
